Beaulieu USA Carpet a Family Tradition:

Continuing the quest of Roger De Clerck, founder of Beaulieu Belgium, Mieke and Carl Bouckaert established Beaulieu of America in 1978 as the first producer of polypropylene oriental rugs. As sales grew Carl and Mieke invested in yarn extrusion in 1981 becoming the first manufacturer in the carpet and rug industry to produce their own yarn.  Sparked by continued growth, the Bouckaerts diversified into tufting carpet in 1984, establishing a factory known today as Beaulieu Commercial in Chatsworth, Georgia.

In 1987, Beaulieu of America's extrusion capacity was greatly increased with the addition of the Bridgeport, Alabama facility.  This modern facility gives Beaulieu the ability to produce nylon polymers and nylon yarns.  In 1990, Beaulieu continued its vertical integration with the addition of yet another new facility in Bridgeport, Alabama for the extrusion of polypropylene staple fiber, polypropylene slit film, and weaving of primary and secondary backing.

Beaulieu's first plant in Canada, for manufacturing area rugs and extruding polypropylene, was built in Stratford, Ontario, in 1981. Subsequently, in 1990, Coronet Carpets, in Farnham, Quebec, then the second largest Canadian carpet manufacturer, became part of the Beaulieu North America family.

Coronet had operated for 24 years as a public company and was a leader in multi-colour dyeing technology and was one of the first mills in North America to use filament nylon in solid shade saxony carpet. In the fall of 1998, Beaulieu further expanded in Canada with the acquisition of Peerless Carpet Corporation. Peerless had been in business for approximately 44 years and had grown from a small bath mat company to a large manufacturer of tufted residential and commercial broadloom with manufacturing and yarn spinning facilities in Acton Vale and Wickham, Quebec. Integrating Peerless Carpet with Coronet Canada, Beaulieu Canada, as the new company, became the largest manufacturer of carpet in Canada.

Beaulieu Canada, today, is Canada's largest carpet manufacturer, employs more than 1600 employees and operates 4 manufacturing facilities in Quebec, with distribution centers in Farnham, Quebec and Calgary, Alberta. With a broad spectrum of the finest products, an experienced sales force, and exclusive retail programs, Beaulieu Canada ships carpet daily to customers in Canada, United States and around the world.
